If you closed your eyes in the middle of
a hectic day and imagined yourself at the most remote, beautiful and stress free location
you could think of you would find
yourself at Santai. The Santai Resort
( Formerly Gubuk Kita's) lies on the East Coast
of Bali, peacefully overlooking beautiful
Amed Beach, and tucked snugly in beneath
the great Mount Agung.

A volcanic stone path winds its way up
to each of the Sulawesi style bungalows
that make up the accomodation at Santai.
These bungalows are beautifully yet simply
decorated, with an exotic four-poster bed
as the centerpiece. The unique features of
the rooms include a loft providing a fantastic view
of Santai and beyond, the outdoor bathroom whic
is open just enough to let the moonlight in,
and a roomy verandah for siting back and absorbing
the sights and sounds of Santai.

If guests decide to venture beyond Santai
they will discover that the surrounding area
has some amazing things to offer.
There is diving at Tulamben as well as fishing
and snorkeling from the beach in front of
the hotel. There are tours of Bali to see
enchanting temples and other sites.
But often the suggestion
of a massage in the hotel gardens
makes it too hard to leave.

Santai is filled with many
intoxicating smells, the salt smell of the ocean,
the sweet and heavy bougainvillaea which
stand out brightly from the garden and course,
the spicy aroma of dinner being prepared in
Santai's fine indoor/outdoor restaurant.
